Who it is for

People who want a structured scalp routine rather than a bottle they forget about. Each vial is a single dose, which makes it easy to keep to a schedule, and easy to see how much of the course you have completed.

It is a cosmetic product. It is not a medicine and it does not replace treatment prescribed by a doctor. If you are already using a prescribed topical, ask your clinician before adding anything else to the same scalp.

What is in the serum

The serum is formulated around Procapil, a cosmetic active made of three components: biotinoyl tripeptide-1, apigenin (from citrus) and oleanolic acid (from olive). It is one of the more widely used scalp actives in this category and it is designed to support the scalp and the anchoring of the hair. Alongside it there is biotin and a base of botanical extracts, with no parabens.

We do not make claims about what any serum will do to your hair count, because the honest answer is that it depends on you, the cause, and consistency. What we can say is what is in it and how it is meant to be used.

How to use it

1. Start with a clean, dry scalp. You do not have to wash immediately beforehand, but there should be no product on the skin.
2. Roll. Pass the dermaroller over the area you are treating four or five times horizontally, then vertically, then diagonally. Light pressure only. It should not hurt and it should not draw blood.
3. Apply one vial. Remove the cap, fit a dropper, and apply the serum onto the area you have just rolled.
4. Massage in with fingertips until absorbed.
5. Leave it. Do not wash the scalp for at least five hours afterwards. Most people apply in the evening and wash in the morning.

Follow the frequency on the enclosed leaflet, or your clinic's advice if it differs. Clean the roller after every use and let it dry fully. It is a personal item and should not be shared.

If you have had a hair transplant, read this first

Do not use the dermaroller on the recipient area until your surgeon has specifically cleared it. Grafts are only fully anchored around day nine, the scalp goes on healing for weeks after that, and most clinics do not want needling anywhere near new grafts in the early months. Your surgeon knows what they did to your scalp and their timeline overrides anything written here or on any product box.

Until you are cleared, the serum can still be applied without the roller on areas your clinic allows. If you are unsure, ask them before you open the box.

Do not use if

• The skin is broken, crusted, inflamed or has active spots
• You have an active scalp condition without having discussed it with a clinician
• You have a known sensitivity to any of the ingredients on the label
